Cambodia Gambling Dens

There is an appealing history to the Cambodia gambling dens that reside just across the border from neighboring Thailand, where casino wagering is not permitted. Eight casinos are based in a relatively small location in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling dens is in a perfect spot, a 3 to 4 hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest gaming centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The phenomenal capital gained from the gambling dens ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a few limitations constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is required to be mainly Thai; although, investment sources are vague. The borders are ceremoniously open from 09:00 to 17:00, and though visas are for all intents and purposes necessary to cross, there are ways around this, as is true of most borders.

The original Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving only 1 gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored bateau gambling den, features 150 slots and 60 table games. The Naga casino is open all hours with forty two tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, four tables of 21, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The first casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown quickly opened. There are 150 one armed bandits and five table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machine games and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features three hundred slot machines and seventy gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and 96 table games, including 87 punto banco (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machine games and 66 of the familiar table games, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 casinos in Poipet, also in a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machine games and 97 table games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a comprehensive resort and hotel compound that features many conveniences aside from the gambling hall, which provides 10,000 square feet of one hundred and thirty slots and eighty eight table games.
