There are many gambling halls in the commonwealth, most on docked scows. Additionally, the Ameristar Casino Hotel in Council Bluffs is open 24 hours, with 38,500 square feet, 1,589 slots, 36 table games, and four eatery’s. There are many other popular Iowa gambling halls, including Harrah’s Council Bluffs, with 28,250 sq.ft., 1,212 slot machines, and 39 table games.
A tinier Iowa gambling den is the Diamond Jo, a riverboat gambling hall in Dubuque, with 17,813 sq.ft., 776 slots, and 19 table games. The Catfish Bend paddle wheel boat, in Fort Madison, with 13,000 sq.ft., 535 one armed bandits, and 14 table games. Another Iowa paddle wheel boat gambling den, The Isle of Capri, is open all hours, with 24,939 sq.ft., 1,100 slots, and 24 table games. The Mississippi Belle II, a 10,577 square foot water based casino in Clinton, has 506 slots, 14 table games, live productions, and Thursday chemin de fer matches.
Iowa casinos provide a great deal of tax revenue to the commonwealth of Iowa, which has permitted the bankrolling of many state wide projects. Vacationers have increased at a fast rate along with the request for companies and a gain in jobs. Iowa casinos have contributed to the growth of the economy, and the affection for betting in Iowa is widespread.
