There is an interesting background to the Cambodia casinos that lie just over the border from nearby Thailand, where gambling den gaming is not allowed. Eight casinos are based in a relatively tiny location in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia gambling dens is in a prime spot, a 3 to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest gambling locations in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a huge business with Thai laborers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The amazing income gained from the casinos ranges from 7.5 million dollars to over 12.5 million, and there are a number of controls constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mainly Thai; still, financial sources are cryptic. The borders are ceremoniously open from 0900 to 5:00 p.m., and even though visas are for all intents and purposes needed to cross, there are methods around this, as is real of many borders.
The original Cambodia gambling dens opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving just one gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked barge gambling den, highlights 150 slot machine games and 60 table games. The Naga gambling hall never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, 4 tables of 21, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five one armed bandits and sixty six of the normal tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight casinos in Poipet, also in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and 97 games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an international resort and hotel compound that contains numerous amenities on top of the gambling den, which has ten thousand sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slot machines and eighty eight gaming tables.
